The Geographic Approach to Creating a More Sustainable Future

Creating a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future is the goal we all strive to achieve. Environmental professionals have long been spearheading these efforts, whether through biological inventories and management, environmental consulting, or regulatory and permitting activities. Legislation such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act codify these efforts and challenge us to collaborate more effectively and efficiently to achieve these goals. For over 20 years, GIS Day has celebrated the use of geographic information system (GIS) technology to tackle complex challenges and better understand our world. For this GIS Day, in partnership with the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP), we will explore how policy is shaping our industry and celebrate the power of utilizing the geographic approach to tackle some of the biggest challenges our industry faces.
