Esri India to Host

Second Annual Esri Asia-Pacific User Conference

The Second Annual Esri Asia-Pacific User Conference will be held January 18–19, 2007, at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, India.

The theme of the conference is GIS for Economic Development. The conference will bring together Esri users in the Asia Pacific region to learn about the latest developments in Esri's software and technologies and to share ideas, experiences, and best practices of GIS and its various applications in the Asia Pacific region.

This year's theme is particularly relevant as Asia Pacific is in the midst of a rapid change. This change, largely an effect of globalization, is supported by the rapid development, transmission, and use of information and knowledge. The success of effective economic development strategies depends on their ability to answer a variety of questions such as the spatial patterns of households, businesses, and proposed infrastructural facilities within a community, which are, above all, geographic. Through demand for services and inputs, economic development fosters job growth, strengthens local industries, spurs demographic changes, influences household spending patterns, and raises the volume of income circulating throughout the economy.

The first day of the conference will begin with a plenary session, followed by an opening presentation by Jack Dangermond, Esri president. There will be a preview and demonstration of Esri's latest GIS technology, then a series of keynote addresses by well-known professionals in the industry. The day will also include a GIS Round Table and the popular Technical Quiz. Finally, the best poster of GIS technology will be awarded at the Map Galleria Poster Session.

The second day will bring technical sessions led by product experts that will provide an excellent opportunity to learn detailed information about using ArcGIS software. User presentation sessions will feature analysts, developers, managers, and industry experts who will share insights into their applications and projects. Users from different industries will demonstrate how ArcGIS enables them to improve their workflow and problem-solving skills. Business partners and many other GIS-related technology companies will showcase their GIS solutions in the Exhibit Hall.

Pre- and postconference training will provide attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest Esri technologies. For more information on the pre- and postconference training, visit www.esriindia.com/apuc2007/training.

In addition, the conference will offer attendees numerous sightseeing excursions to choose from, including Delhi; the Taj Mahal; the Himalayas; and Jaipur, the Pink City.
