MapObjects—Java Edition Now Includes Serverside Components

MapObjects—Java Edition now supports layouts.

MapObjects—Java Edition 2 is the newest version of Esri's collection of GIS and mapping components for the Java developer. MapObjects—Java Edition developers can now benefit from having access to serverside components, allowing them to build map services, JavaServer Pages, and Java Servlets. Developers can also construct custom Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) and take advantage of industry-standard J2EE application server providers such as BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, or JBoss.

Other new MapObjects—Java Edition features include

• Support for additional file formats such as MrSID, CAD (DGN, DXG, and DWG), military formats, and much more
• Projections and datum transformations
• Layout view for comprehensive map compositions
• Support for Mac OS X and IBM AIX operating systems in addition to continued support for HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, and Windows
• Additional samples with source code
• Updated object model diagram
