URISA Offers Something for Every GIS Professional in 2009

The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) has an ambitious educational agenda for 2009. Beginning in early February in Charleston, South Carolina, URISA and the URISA logoInternational Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) will present the 13th Annual GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference. With a focus on the depressed economy and housing market, the conference is especially important this year.

June marks the return of URISA's GIS in Public Health Conference. The conference will provide an open and participatory forum for advancing the effective use of spatial information and geographic information system technologies across the domains of public health, health care, and community health preparedness. Themed "Putting Health in Place with GIS," the conference will take place in Providence, Rhode Island, June 5–8.

URISA's Leadership Academy (ULA) will be presented in June and December. Join the growing number of ULA graduates who are current and emerging leaders in the field.

GIS professionals, addressing coordinators, and 9-1-1 and emergency response specialists will come together for the URISA/NENA Addressing Conference in Providence, August 4–6. The conference program presents sessions on addressing basics, coordination, and standards; emergency response and 9-1-1; and case studies of GIS integration with public safety.

URISA's 47th Annual Conference will be held September 29–October 2 in Anaheim, California. The program committee is already hard at work on sessions and activities to shake up the typical conference agenda. You won't want to miss it!

URISA and the Center for Urban Transit Research are new partners on the GIS in Transit Conference, which will take place November 10–12 in St. Petersburg, Florida. A well-regarded group of professionals is leading the development of this conference, which will certainly become a regular event on the industry calendar.

In addition to these conferences, URISA has launched a series of webinars designed to provide affordable and important information without requiring extensive travel and time away from the office. Be sure to check out the list of upcoming classes.

URISA chapters regularly present local programs across North America and the Caribbean.
