Improve Metadata Collection with Extension

Georgia State University students who gathered data for the Atlanta Environmental Monitoring GIS Project documented all digital data sets using Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC)-compliant metadata. They used an ArcView GIS extension developed and made available by the Coastal Services Center of the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

ArcView Metadata Collector v2.0 provides dialogs that help users create FGDC-compliant metadata.

ArcView Metadata Collector v2.0 provides dialogs that help users create FGDC-compliant metadata for most types of data supported by ArcView GIS. This tool automatically extracts information, such as bounding coordinates, spatial data organization, and attribute information, and stores it in dBASE or text files that can be edited. This unsupported extension is available at no charge from the NOAA Web site.
