Nation's Largest Telecom Cooperative Selects Esri as Its Geospatial Platform

Analysis, Mapping, and Data Management Capabilities Deployed Company-wide

November 12, 2012

Redlands, California—Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) recently extended its use of Esri technology to provide its entire organization with a geospatial platform. Now, all HTC departments can easily view, manage, and share data related to assets, customers, network plans, and the geography of the service area. Additionally, Esri tools for analysis and mapping enable HTC staff to make decisions based on the most current information.

HTC provides more than 70,000 customers in eastern South Carolina with services including wireless telephone, digital cable, high-speed Internet, home security, and fiber optics.

"We selected Esri because it is the industry leader and the most widely used geospatial technology," said Daniel Spivey, supervisor, HTC Information Services Engineering Applications. "We can incorporate data from our local county governments and others, as they also use Esri technology. With Esri as our platform, we are able to give greater access to more users instead of having a few key people act as information silos."

HTC was able to deploy Esri technology as a geospatial platform because of Esri's small utility enterprise license agreement (ELA) program. The ELA includes unlimited software and maintenance. Services and training are typically included. For more information about Esri's ELAs for small utilities, visit esri.com/suela.
