The City of Chicago contracted with Urban GIS to update and enhance the Power Outage Notification and Tracking System (PONTS) application with expanded reporting and mapping tools. Urban GIS has developed a reporting "dashboard" where users can generate a variety of reports based on outage status, location, political boundaries, or date. From this dashboard, users can access a map of outage status. This easy-to-use interface allows users to turn map features on/off, add detailed aerial images, and perform queries of feeder status. Users can also download reports based on any map query. The enhanced PONTS application quickly and easily provides key information about outages and their effects. Management can now build focused reports to share with key decision makers; a process that previously required time-consuming processing.
