The ArcPad 6 Challenge was a contest created by Esri to increase awareness of ArcPad and the new ArcPad Application Builder, a development environment that allows users to write their own custom ArcPad applications using XML, VBScript, or C/C++. The ArcPad Challenge was open to Esri Business Partners, and winners were recently showcased at the Twenty-second Esri International User Conference in San Diego, California. Trimble (www.trimble.com) received first prize in the Extensions category with the GPScorrect for ArcPad 6 extension. GPScorrect is an integrated Trimble GPS solution for ArcPad users, allowing differential correction of shapefiles and seamless control of a Trimble GPS receiver from within ArcPad. Second prize in the extensions category went to Tadpole-Cartesia (www.tadpole.com). This extension enables ArcPad to directly read, write, and redline CAD files. In the Template category, Electronic Data Solutions (www.elecdata.com) received first prize with the HydroPlu GIS template for ArcPad. This application allows water resource managers to record Hydrolab multiparameter water quality data, at user-defined point locations, directly into a GIS. The application works with shapefiles, or users can create new points with a GPS or manually by using the touch screen. Second prize was awarded to Voice-Insight (www.voice-insight.com) for its entry, Voice Assistant for ArcPad. Voice Assistant enables users out in the field to complete their common ArcPad applications using their voices. Forest Resources Systems Institute, Inc. (www.forsonline.org), won third prize with its Urban Tree Inventory System template. Esri would like to thank all Business Partners who submitted entries in the ArcPad 6 Challenge for their continued support.
