GIS Day 2003--How Sweet It Will Be! |
|
|
GIS Day 2002--How Sweet It Was!--What do a class of eighth grade girls from Edmonton, Canada; six South African Boy Scout troops; 140 high school students and geography teachers in Santiago, Chile; New York Governor George Pataki; and 700 fifth graders from Rancho Cucamonga, California, all have in common? They all celebrated GIS Day 2002 by joining thousands of others in educating their local communities, Businesses, schools, and neighbors about the power of GIS technology. By participating in open houses, educational seminars, GPS scavenger hunts, geography quiz games, and even baking geography/GIS-inspired cakes and cookies, these individuals and organizations are showing the world just how important GIS technology is in analyzing information, making important decisions, and ultimately sustaining our planet. To see just how easy it is to become involved in GIS Day, we invite you to read the many success stories from the numerous 2002 events at www.gisday.com/success-2002.html on the Web. It is never too early to begin planning for this year's GIS Day. Please join us this year in celebrating GIS Day 2003 on Wednesday, November 19.
