Exemplary Systems in Government Awards

URISA ESIG Application Process Opens

The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) recently posted on the Web the application materials for its prestigious Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) awards. The awards recognize exceptional achievements in the application of information technology that have improved the delivery and quality of government services. Applications may be submitted in two categories, Single Process and Enterprise Systems. An application is available online (www.urisa.org). Submissions are due by June 6, 2005.

ESIG award winners in 2004 for single process systems were the Maryland Department of the Environment for its Maryland Online Tier II Reporting System and the South Florida Water Management District for its Lake Okeechobee Stage-Area-Capacity Lookup Application. Enterprise system winners were the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, for its GIS Street Centerline Enhancement Project; Sacramento County, California, for its Sacramento County WebGIS; and Vicmap Topographic for its Vicmap Topographic 1:30,000.
