URISA 2003 Heads to Atlanta

The 41st Annual Conference of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, October 11-15, 2003.

This year's conference theme is Powering Progress Towards Process and Information Integration, and educational sessions will explore the following important topics:

  • Public Health and Safety
  • Enterprise Operations
  • Beyond Maps
  • Making Connections
  • Transportation Systems
  • Asset Management
  • Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness
  • Data Integration: Data Standards, Policy Issues, and Software Considerations
  • Other Current and Hot Topics

URISA's offerings of preconference workshops have been significantly improved and updated, and 14 courses will be offered at this year's conference.

Industry awards, networking opportunities, and a comprehensive exhibit hall will all be conference highlights.

Of note this year will be the presentation of the first graduating class of the GIS Certification Institute, the organizing body for GIS Professional Certification. Program details and a session on how to apply for certification will be included.
