URISA Gears Up for a Busy 12 Months

The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is hosting its 44th annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, September 26–29, 2006, where it anticipates an attendance of nearly 1,000 GIS professionals from around the globe. Thirteen preconference workshops, more than 200 presenters, a comprehensive exhibit hall, and numerous networking opportunities will make URISA 2006 the place for spatial information professionals.

URISA will then head south to the Bahamas for its Third Caribbean GIS Conference, October 29–November 2, certain to be the premier GIS conference in the region in 2006.

Plans for URISA's 2007 conferences are already under way. The 11th Annual Integrating GIS and CAMA Conference (cosponsored by the International Association of Assessing Officers) will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 4–7, 2007. The 2nd Annual Geospatial Integration for Public Safety Conference (cosponsored by the National Emergency Number Association) will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 15–18, 2007, and a new URISA specialty conference, GIS in Public Health, will also be presented in New Orleans, May 20–23, 2007.

URISA is also pleased to announce that its 45th annual conference will take place in Washington, D.C. The dates for this milestone event are August 20–23, 2007.
