The Pacific Disaster Center (PDC) focuses on providing emergency
management information support. PDC's goal is not only to develop and
provide the right information--this federally-sponsored center strives to
that information in the right form to the right person so the right decision
can be made in responding to natural and manmade disasters in and
the Pacific and Indian oceans. Using many GIS-based products, PDC has
developed new ways of helping emergency managers respond to the
challenges of this volatile region.

Although telecommunications providers generally have the same needs for information, how the work
flow is organized can vary significan company to company. To be competitive providers depend on a smoothly
