Esri Business Analyst Server Enables Efficient Enterprise Collaboration through Custom Web Applications

November 4, 2010

Microsoft Silverlight API is now available for creating Rich Internet Applications.

Redlands, California—The recently released Esri Business Analyst Server 10 improves collaboration and facilitates sharing of business models and analyses across the enterprise. Business Analyst Server combines geographic information system (GIS) server technology with extensive business, updated demographic, and consumer spending data from Esri, allowing organizations to perform market analyses and share the results throughout departments.

The latest release features significant performance improvements. Tasks such as data summarization, benchmarking, and market ranking can be done almost instantaneously—some tasks in less than one second. Print-quality maps, reports, and analyses can be combined into market studies and distributed in ready-to-use browser-based applications.

Business Analyst Server comes with out-of-the-box tools and services to help users rapidly publish and share revealing data, maps, analyses, and models. It includes Flex and Silverlight software developer kits (SDKs), in addition to REST and SOAP API services, allowing users to develop custom rich Internet applications that leverage the advanced analysis.

Business Analyst Server users do not have to be GIS experts. An application developer can quickly build an easy-to-use Web application for a company's real estate department, for example, that will screen potential facility locations. Users can pan and zoom on the map from a citywide view to a street-by-street analysis while Business Analyst Server performs instantaneous geoprocessing behind the scenes. End users can access focused applications for solving site location problems and customer targeting and analysis with a standard Web browser.

"These applications spread knowledge, revealing critical information to many users across an organization, without the need for individual desktop applications or GIS know-how," says Bob Hazelton, Esri Business Analyst Server product manager.
