ArcGIS Knowledge Technical Sessions

We are pleased to announce the following technical sessions focused on ArcGIS Knowledge and Knowledge Studio. These professional development sessions will be delivered by our product experts and are designed to build or advance your understanding of knowledge graphs and spatially enabled link analysis in ArcGIS.

  • ArcGIS Knowledge: The Fundamentals of Connecting Data and Analyzing Relationships
For anyone new to knowledge graphs or link analysis in ArcGIS, this “intro session” will describe ArcGIS Knowledge and explain how it empowers you to work with connected data and new analysis tools. You’ll also see classic examples of connecting related spatial and nonspatial data into networks to discover hidden connections, investigate networks, explore dependencies and supply chains, and more. This is a general session for analysts or investigators in any domain or sector with any level of experience with other link analysis tools or ArcGIS Pro. (2 sessions, 1 hour)
  • ArcGIS Knowledge: Exploring Entities and Relationships with ArcGIS Web Apps
Since we first released ArcGIS Knowledge, many of the most frequently asked-for features from our federal users have centered on how they can use knowledge graphs in the web, especially with other ‘out of the box’ ArcGIS web apps. In this debut session, we will show different examples of how connected data looks in the web, including teaching you how to use Knowledge Studio, our web-based app for graph analytics.  You will also see how knowledge graphs can add critical context to familiar web apps like Instant Apps, Dashboards, and StoryMaps. Finally, in hopes of inspiring you to use ArcGIS in new (and not-just-spatial) ways, you’ll also see examples of custom web apps we built using the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript (JS SDK) and AI. No experience with knowledge graphs or JavaScript is required for this session. (1 session, 1 hour)

Matt Davis of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) will join us to share a real-world example of using knowledge graphs in the web. Mr. Davis is a Technical Surveillance Specialist in the Special Operations Division at ATF. He will describe how knowledge graphs can connect some of the most critical information ATF analysts use in investigations, emphasizing his vision for how ArcGIS web applications can surface context and connections for investigators, agents, and decision-makers.

  • ArcGIS Knowledge: Graph Analytics in Spatial and Temporal Context
This is for anyone who is already familiar with the concepts of entities and relationships or who attended the Intro to Knowledge session. You’ll hear directly from Esri’s graph analytics experts about how to combine spatial, temporal, and graph analysis methods and we will show you as many examples as we have “time and space” for… (please don’t let the bad jokes keep you from attending this session). This has been a fan-favorite session in years past, perfect for anyone interested in analytically rigorous, real-world use cases for spatial knowledge graphs. (1 session, 1 hour)

We will also be joined by USAF Colonel Brian Hellesto of Air University. Col Hellesto (F-35/A-10 Pilot) is a lead military instructor in the Joint All Domain Strategist (JADS) Program at Air University, a one-year program for top field grade officers across all branches of service to prepare them for leadership roles in future strategies, plans, and policies as well as key command positions. He is currently attending the University of Alabama for a PhD in Geography. Col Hellesto will present his innovative use of ArcGIS Knowledge in support of strategic design and military planning. He will discuss why ACSC/JADS is using Esri tech, what capabilities they’ve built and applied (so far) using ArcGIS Knowledge, and how he envisions expanding this capability for the Combatant Commands to adopt.  It promises to be an engaging and informative presentation, shedding light on cutting-edge applications of knowledge graphs in ArcGIS in the context of decision support and military and intelligence use cases.

  • Developer Summit: Intro to ArcGIS Knowledge Graphs and Extending Workflows with SDKs
If you’re a developer or beginner coder wanting to learn more about how to customize ArcGIS user interfaces or interactions with Knowledge Graphs, join us for this professional development session. It will include a short introduction to ArcGIS Knowledge, followed by a sections covering the ArcGIS Maps Software Development Kits for Python, JavaScript, and .Net (Desktop). For each of these, we will introduce the API and show you a few code samples and corresponding demonstrations. (1 session, 1 hour)
Note: This session is part of the Developer Summit and separate registration is required.

Public Safety and Intelligence Sessions

Knowledge Graphs in ArcGIS AllSource

For analysts looking for more investigations-focused functionality in ArcGIS, we are offering several technical demonstrations exploring spatial graph analytics powered by ArcGIS Knowledge, with ArcGIS AllSource as the user interface tailored for public safety investigators.

  • ArcGIS: Combatting Fraud, Waste, and Abuse
Don’t leave the Expo without attending this featured demonstration in the Safety & Security Theater area. We will showcase how ArcGIS Knowledge lets us work with non-traditional GIS entities and relationships to find patterns and anomalies consistent with fraud, waste and abuse crimes. You’ll see an example of using AI to dramatically accelerate data preparation and extract data that was previously locked in unstructured text or images so that it’s ready for graph analysis using ArcGIS Knowledge. Demos will focus on transactional information such as human networks, financial transactions, and government benefits. (1 session, 45 minutes)
  • ArcGIS: Supporting Intelligence and Investigations
Join our public safety team to see how ArcGIS AllSource and ArcGIS Knowledge work together to support modern intelligence and investigative workflows. Using a realistic drug‑trafficking network as the demo scenario, you will see how analysts can fuse geospatial information, operational reporting, communication records, financial indicators, and open‑source intelligence into a unified investigative environment. We will explore how ArcGIS Knowledge models entities, relationships, and patterns within the trafficking network, exposing key facilitators, distribution routes, and cross‑border linkages. This session is for anyone who is familiar with using link charts to analyze networks, especially analysts and investigators looking for an integrated workspace to do temporal and spatial analysis, visualize network activity, and generate actionable intelligence products for investigative teams and decision‑makers. (2 sessions, 1 hour)

Defense & Intelligence Sessions

See how ArcGIS Knowledge provides powerful spatial analytic capabilities in the Defense and Intelligence sectors:

  • ArcGIS: Enabling Activity-Based Intelligence
Activity-based intelligence is the “OG” use case for combining spatial analysis and graph analysis capabilities. This session is for anyone who wants to learn how to analyze movement or track data from cell phones, vehicles, and other sources with graph analytics to identify movement patterns and explain why these movements are occurring. (2 sessions, 1 hour)
  • Object-Based Intelligence Using ArcGIS: Object Production, Management, and Dissemination
This session is for analysts who rely on documented ontologies for organizing and categorizing information about facilities, weapons, military units, and other Order of Battle information. You’ll see how to integrate an existing ontology into an ArcGIS Knowledge graph and use the pre-defined schema to connect multiple authoritative data sources. (1 session, 1 hour)
  • ArcGIS: Working with Unstructured Text Data
When trying to build a graph, users often have unstructured data that contains important context and making it usable can be time consuming. In this session, you’ll learn about different strategies for bringing structure to unstructured data using Esri tools like LocateXT and AI, as well as integrating with partner capabilities like NetOwl, which can be used for automatically creating entities and relationships inside of ArcGIS Knowledge from unstructured text. (2 sessions, 1 hour)
