ArcGIS Image Dedicated: July 2026 Enhancements

ArcGIS Image Dedicated enables organizations to manage, process, analyze, and deliver imagery and raster data at scale from AWS or Azure cloud storage. Esri operates and automatically scales the dedicated cloud infrastructure, removing the burden of infrastructure management. Organizations can efficiently manage imagery, publish high-performance image services, generate analysis-ready products, and perform advanced analytics to turn imagery into actionable information.
This quarterly release introduces enhancements across the Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers, the ArcGIS Image Dedicated App, Pro Machines, Persist Imagery, and ArcGIS Server and Load Balancer Server log management. The focus remains on strengthening day to day operational workflows, improving reliability, and strengthening secure cloud connectivity.

Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers

Create private storage connections

Private storage connections provide secure, private connectivity between Image Dedicated resources (currently Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers and Pro Machines) and customer‑managed cloud storage in AWS or Microsoft Azure.

Instead of using storage credentials over public endpoints, you can configure private, cloud‑native network paths so that data stays within your secure internal network and does not traverse the public internet.

Microsoft Azure

You can establish private storage connections using Microsoft Azure Private Endpoints. You submit a request with storage account details to create a Private Endpoint from the ArcGIS Image Dedicated App, then approve the pending connection in your Microsoft Azure portal. Once approved, imagery workflows continue unchanged except that all communication now traverses Microsoft Azure’s private network, improving security and network isolation.

AWS

You can establish private storage connections using Amazon S3 Access Points. You submit a request with the bucket name and bucket owner account ID to create an S3 Access Point from the ArcGIS Image Dedicated App. The Access Point is created, and the S3 Access Point Alias is returned. The Alias replaces the bucket name in the Cloud Storage Connection (ACS) file. You associate the Access Point with the required ArcGIS Image Dedicated resource. The resource now accesses S3 storage over AWS’s private network. No AWS access credentials are required in the ACS files. This also eliminates the Access Key / Secret Key requirement, and you can use the same ACS file to register the cloud stores.

Note: Support is now available for Pro Machines (all available versions) and Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers (version 12.1 or later). Support for Processing and Analysis workflows is still in progress. Until those capabilities roll out in Processing and Analysis workflows, customers should continue using their existing data storage accounts configured with a shared secret ARN.

Refresh published services without downtime

When using a Managed RDBMS, the new Refresh Service operation refreshes published image services to reflect backend changes in the mosaic datasets without requiring a service restart. Newly added rasters become available immediately while environments remain online, eliminating downtime, improving operational continuity for dynamic imagery environments, and eliminating manual restarts and service interruptions.

Support for Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers 12.1 and Managed RDBMS on PostgreSQL 18

New deployments support Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers 12.1 and Managed RDBMS on PostgreSQL 18. Existing environments can upgrade to adopt the latest platform capabilities.

Configure enhanced data storage accounts

You can now configure additional storage access options:

  • AWS data storage accounts support S3 Access Points in addition to Shared Secret ARN.
  • Azure data storage accounts support Microsoft Azure Front Door endpoint.

Organizations that already route Microsoft Azure Storage traffic through Microsoft Azure Front Door can now use those same endpoints within ArcGIS Image Dedicated.

Note: Azure Front Door setup and troubleshooting are customer‑managed tasks. Once your Azure Front Door configuration is in place, Image Dedicated fully supports the endpoint. For guidance, refer to the Azure Front Door documentation, including the Create a Front Door tutorial and the Azure Front Door overview.

Create ACS files with new access types

Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers now support Cloud Storage Connection (ACS) files created using:

  • Amazon S3 Access Point Alias
  • Microsoft Azure Front Door endpoint

You can use the same ACS files to register cloud stores.

ArcGIS Image Dedicated App

Manage private storage connections

The ArcGIS Image Dedicated App now includes a Private Storage Connections tab under Settings, allowing you to configure secure, private connectivity between Image Dedicated resources and your cloud‑managed storage in Microsoft Azure or AWS. You can create, view, update, and delete storage connections for both cloud providers.

Manage S3 Access Point access

The ArcGIS Image Dedicated App provides a user interface to add/remove S3 Access Points on the Update Properties page of Dynamic and Tiled Imagery Servers and Pro Machines, centralizing access control.

Create data storage accounts with updated forms

  • AWS forms support S3 Access Point Alias as an additional S3 Access type. You can choose between Shared Secret ARN and S3 Access Point when configuring storage access.
  • Azure forms support Microsoft Azure Front Door endpoint as a custom endpoint.

Pro Machines

Pro Machines enable users to spin up virtual machines pre-installed with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Reality Studio in any Azure or AWS region for image management, processing, or analysis next to the stored data.

Support for ArcGIS Pro 3.7

New Pro Machines now default to version 3.7, including ArcGIS Pro 3.7, Reality Studio 2026.1, and ArcGIS Deep Learning Libraries 3.7. This ensures new deployments use the latest supported software stack.

Support for new AWS large CPU instance type

Large CPU Machines on AWS now support the i7i.2xlarge instance type, offering 1.7 TB of temporary storage for demanding workflows.

Persist Imagery

Persist Imagery provides a scalable framework for converting large raster collections into formats such as Cloud Raster Format (CRF), tile caches, and tile packages. This release introduces new tools and reliability improvements that simplify large‑scale raster processing.

Submit large JSON jobs

Persist Imagery now supports JSON job submissions up to 4 GB, allowing you to submit large mosaic datasets.

Generate Tile Caches with Elevation Data

The Generate Tile Cache tool can now incorporate elevation data as an input for tile cache generation.

Merge Tile Caches tool enhancement

The Merge Tile Caches tool now supports merging tile caches stored in two different ACS files.

Generate Pyramids tool

A new Generate Pyramids tool creates lower‑resolution cache levels from an existing base cache, reducing processing time and avoiding full cache regeneration. This workflow is effective when working with large tile caches. A previously generated high‑resolution cache can serve as the source for all additional levels, eliminating the need to recreate tiles and saving significant time and compute resources in large‑scale imagery or basemap production.

ArcGIS Server and Load Balancer log insights

  • The Geoparquet files now include extents for SOAP, WMTS, WMS, and WCS services.

Deprecation Summary

  • The older Dynamic Imagery Server 11.3 and Tiled Imagery Server 11.3 are being deprecated and removed for new deployments. Existing environments can upgrade to supported versions.
  • ArcGIS Pro 3.3 is no longer available for new deployments.
