Take control of invasive vegetation with the Invasive Vegetation Management solution

By Kaitlin Finan and Claire Smith

ArcGIS Solutions helps you make the most of your GIS by providing purpose-driven, industry-specific configurations of ArcGIS.

Invasive vegetation is one of the fastest-growing threats to ecosystems and agriculture. If left unmanaged, it spreads quickly to threaten biodiversity, increase fire risk, and obstruct infrastructure. Across industries, organizations tasked with managing invasive vegetation frequently face limited time and resources. These organizations need a way to improve efficiency while maintaining the effectiveness of their programs.

The new Invasive Vegetation Management solution addresses these challenges by delivering tools to help you plan and prioritize work, precisely track treatment locations, and visualize trends over time. Whether you’re battling noxious weeds, restoring habitat, or managing right-of-way corridors, this solution transforms workflows into a coordinated, data-driven program.

Streamline invasive vegetation operations

Managing invasive vegetation is an ongoing challenge, requiring field crews to survey and treat infestations using a range of methods and coordination across teams. The Invasive Vegetation Management solution streamlines operations by bringing planning, fieldwork, analysis, and reporting into a set of preconfigured apps to accelerate deployment.

Capture field work

Effective invasive vegetation management starts in the field. With the Invasive Vegetation Field Map, technicians can view a prioritized task list to guide their work. Capturing fieldwork as it happens ensures that treatment locations and observations are accurately recorded. Additionally, enabling location sharing allows crews to track their work collectively as they move through the target area.

Manage work

Planning, managing, and reporting invasive vegetation work requires organized operations. To support this, the Invasive Vegetation Operations Center centralizes operations staff workflows into a single app. Operations staff review and escalate observations, create and manage target areas, and quickly summarize treatment activities into reports.

Auto-generate treated areas

The Invasive Vegetation Tracks Pipeline data pipeline helps you analyze completed work areas so you can accurately track treatment methods and locations. On a scheduled interval, the data pipeline connects treatment details records with location sharing track lines and converts them into treated areas. By buffering, dissolving, and joining treatment details, the data pipeline drastically reduces manual digitization and keeps datasets clean and consistent.

Visualize trends

Visualizing trends can help turn program data in actionable insights. With the Invasive Vegetation Program Dashboard app, program managers can monitor progress over time and evaluate metrics like treatment types and acreage to guide data informed decisions.
