What’s New in the ArcGIS StoryMaps Briefings App (March 2024)

Briefings is a new output of the intuitive ArcGIS StoryMaps builder that empowers you to quickly consolidate critical information into shareable slides. Take briefings on the go and interact with your dynamic maps and scenes offline in the ArcGIS StoryMaps Briefings app. Next time you need to share slides, provide your audience with the meaningful context of your dynamic maps, 3D scenes, embedded content, multimedia, and more with briefings.

What’s New in the Briefings App

The ArcGIS StoryMaps Briefings app has been updated. Access the latest enhancements in the app on an Android or iOS tablet or a Windows computer or tablet.

View secure layers in your slides

You can now view secure layers in web maps or 3D scenes added to a briefing from the Briefings app. A pop-up will display prompting you to sign-in to your ArcGIS organization to display the secure layers. Upon entering your credentials, the secure layers will display in the web map or 3D scene.

Here's an example of how the Sign-in challenge prompts when ArcGIS secured service layer or sample server layer is added to a web map.

New logo placement options

Additional options to display your logo on slides have been added to the briefings builder in ArcGIS StoryMaps. Display your logo on the cover of your briefing in addition to showing it in the header. From the design panel of the briefings builder, you can independently toggle the logo placement on or off as needed.

Here’s an example of showing your logo on both the header and cover or either of them in a briefing in the app.

Pan or zoom into maps and scenes

From the Briefings app, you can now pan and zoom into maps and scenes on your slides without expanding them. To do this, you’ll need to configure map navigation in the ArcGIS StoryMaps briefings builder.

Enhanced slide navigation

Arrow keys have been added to the header bar in the Briefings app to help you easily navigate between the slides. However, the swiping gesture has been disabled for iOS and Android tablets.
