Esri Ireland--A New Era for GIS in Ireland

Esri acknowledges growth of GIS in Ireland with the recent conversion of the GIS division of Paradigm Technology, Esri's former subdistributor, to Esri Ireland.

"The formation of Esri Ireland, as part of the global Esri network, recognizes this growth," states Peter Paisley, managing director of Esri (UK). "It provides an enhanced platform for better support of current and future users of GIS in both the Republic and Northern Ireland, both directly and through local Business Partners with whom we will continue to collaborate."

Esri (UK) has been responsible for promoting and supporting Esri software usage throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1986, and Paradigm Technology has operated as its agent to service Irish interests. The current Esri user base in the Republic and Northern Ireland encompasses a wide range of industries including government, local government, Business and retail, telecommunications, environment, heritage, agriculture, fisheries, defense, forestry, marine, and education.

GIS and location-based information are playing an increasingly important role in information technology (IT) systems, commercial operations, and public sector service delivery in Ireland. Recent years have seen a substantial growth in the implementation of large GIS-related projects and in the widespread adoption of Esri as the GIS technology of choice in Ireland by organizations of all sizes and budgets.

Ed Wheeler, director of Paradigm Technology, adds, "This development will leverage the financial and technical resources behind Esri (UK) with the strong existing local GIS group to the benefit of all our clients and staff."

Esri Ireland will continue to offer complete GIS solutions including system customization, consultancy, data capture/attribution, training, and support.

Esri Ireland will be located at the same address as Paradigm Technology in Dundrum Office Park, Dublin 14. All of Paradigm's GIS staff have transferred to the new company.
