Description:
How do you come to know what aerial restriction zones exist and to what height do they persist? Haskoning has developed an online public GIS viewer for the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works. With this viewer, users can spatially query for restrictions and create reports to export the found information. How do you come to the right solution? Haskoning has deployed an AGILE Scrum approach to the development of the viewer and included the client in the process as product owner. This collaboration has significantly helped with getting the application specifications worked out as best as possible and created a transparent process which allowed the team to engage in shared decision-making. Challenge: Harmonize all the data and allow for user-friendly interaction with it. As the data originated from a variety of suppliers and was supplied in several different formats, a unified data format had to be designed to harmonize the GIS-data. Moreover, to enhance the details of the height restrictions, the data was expanded into one-meter height increments. Technical Implementation: The Experience Builder Developer Edition was used to build the frontend of the application. Since out-of-the-box functionality did not fully cover all the user requirements, custom widgets were developed and deployed through our cloud hosting infrastructure. The Web Map holding all the data is hosted on ArcGIS Online.
