Haskoning tackled this challenge by developing an online GIS viewer for Bodemzorg Limburg, making essential data centralized and accessible. Challenge Bodemzorg Limburg manages former landfill sites in the Limburg region, which, still require long-term monitoring. Managing these locations demands accurate and readily accessible information about every aspect of the landfills. Therefore, Bodemzorg Limburg sought a future-proof solution to efficiently monitor these sites and make information easily accessible to managers, contractors and municipalities. Access to Information The challenge was threefold: first, to safeguard important information about landfill sites that could otherwise be lost with the departure of key personnel. Second, to organize, improve the quality of, and make accessible all data and information, both digital and analog. Third, to share this information with third parties without relying on physical files or the direct presence of Bodemzorg staff. Efficiently Managed and Shared To improve the sustainability and efficiency of site management, Haskoning developed an online GIS viewer that enables digital access to data about the landfill sites. This environment integrates various types of information, such as aerial photographs, locations and measurements of monitoring wells, and historical data about the landfills. All information is immediately available to users, allowing knowledge about these sites to be efficiently managed, shared, and monitored. Technological Implementation The implementation involved digitizing both analog and digital data, which was then made accessible via Esri’s ArcGIS Online. This environment provides tabs for each landfill site, allowing users to easily find and use specific information. The system is designed to be intuitive, enabling even non-technical users to work effectively with the data. Benefits The implementation of this solution has led to significant improvements in projectmanagement and coordination efficiency. The primary users from Bodemzorg Limburg, can now efficiently share information with field operators. Additionally, field operators can directly access relevant data, enabling them to work more accurately. The platform also offers the possibility for real-time updates, which is essential for timely responses to any changes or required maintenance activities.
