Esri will be retiring two very old raster basemaps on May 4, 2022. If you are using one of these basemaps, you should switch to the equivalent basemap in general availability. Once the basemaps are retired, they will no longer be available to use in maps and apps.
- ESRI_Imagery_World_2D – use World_Imagery_WGS84 as a replacement
- ESRI_StreetMap_World_2D – use World Street Map (WGS84) as a replacement. ArcMap users will need to use World_Street_Map as a replacement, but note that this basemap is in Web Mercator.
The “2D” basemaps were placed in mature support in 2016 and have not been updated since. The replacement basemaps are updated regularly and have more worldwide coverage.
