Mapping excellence is the achievement of clear and useful maps that satisfy their stated purpose. An excellent map is visually interesting, provides meaningful context, and draws attention to a topic. A good map becomes excellent when it is easy to replicate and update. GIS managers and analysts are in a unique position to accelerate map excellence in their organizations. This session will focus on creating a finished product for use online. Online maps are a practical alternative in areas where they may not have been considered before, and they are becoming easier to build and maintain. Through examples, you will see how a map's journey to excellence is affected by the constraints that are known and managed and those that may not be recognized. Attendees will be invited to share their experiences on this topic.
