A message from Esri president Jack Dangermond

Responding to recent news of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

As a result of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis, we are making the decision to move the 2020 Esri User Conference from San Diego to a virtual format.

While we can't replicate the same experience of being together in person, we will do our best to create an amazing event that will continue to move you and our community forward. My sense is that this experience will help us all learn even more about what makes GIS and our work so special.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support. As always, please stay safe and healthy, and I look forward to talking with you in July.

Why was this event turned into a virtual event instead of being hosted in San Diego, California?

Your health and safety are of the utmost importance to us. As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, we are making the decision to move the 2020 Esri User Conference from San Diego to a virtual format.

What is the deadline to sign up for this event?

There is no deadline to sign up for this event. It is our hope that this globally accessible virtual format will encourage even more participation from our users and geographic information system (GIS) professionals around the world.

Will there be changes in the agenda for the Esri UC?

We are committed to making Esri's first entirely virtual event a great success. We will be offering the same core components of our in-person conference experience, including the Plenary Session, technical sessions, networking opportunities, user presentations, the Map Gallery, sponsorships, and exhibits. We plan to provide live, interactive experiences, including Q&A sessions and real-time access to Esri experts, along with a comprehensive library of recorded resources that can be accessed during the virtual event.

Unfortunately, in-person activities including the 5k Fun Run/Walk, morning yoga, the Thursday Night Celebration, KiddieCorp child care, and the GIS Kids Fair will be cancelled.

Will the entire Esri UC be streamed live?

No, only the Plenary Session will be streamed live. We plan to provide live, interactive experiences, including Q&A sessions and real-time access to Esri experts, along with a comprehensive library of recorded resources that can be accessed during the virtual event.

Will user-submitted content, the Map Gallery, and Plenary Session image submissions still be featured?

Yes, we will still be featuring user-generated content via user presentations, the Map Gallery, and the Plenary Session. If you have been selected to give a user presentation or share your work at the Map Gallery, our team will be in touch about how to participate virtually.

Are there changes to sponsorship and exhibitor packages for Esri UC?

Esri is committed to providing a successful learning experience that will continue to feature valuable opportunities to connect Esri partners' products and services with our attendees.

Esri partners that have already registered as a 2020 Esri UC sponsor or exhibitor will be eligible to apply paid fees to any new virtual package or receive a full refund. Fees not applied toward a new virtual package will be refunded.

We are working on finalizing the new virtual packages and we will contact current sponsors and exhibitors when the packages are released.

If you are interested in sponsoring and/or exhibiting at our new virtual event, email us at exhibits@esri.com to be contacted when the packages are released.

Will Esri UC concurrent events and other related events be part of the virtual Esri UC?

At this time, concurrent events and other related events will not be part of the Esri UC virtual event.

We plan to provide options for users who wish to engage with their peers in an industry-specific space. Please check back in the coming weeks for more information.

If you have any questions or concerns, call Esri at 1-888-377-4576 or email us at confregis@esri.com.

Will the preconference seminars still be a part of this event?
