Add Climate Science to Your Classroom

Climate change affects all communities. These teaching resources support environmental and sustainability education.

STEM, social studies, and career education teachers all have elements of climate studies in their curricula. Help students explore their world with maps

  • Hypothesize

    Using an existing drought, heat, or fire map, students can observe patterns, correlations, or contributing factors. They can then use that observation to form a preliminary statement and restate it as a question to begin the investigation.

  • Collect

    Data about climate or any other topic can come from federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, universities, or student researchers. ArcGIS Online offers tools like Map Viewer and ArcGIS Survey123 to view others’ data and collect your own.

  • Analyze

    Making sense of data can happen in many ways, but when data is on a map, its location is often an important factor in the investigation. Using Map Viewer and dashboards allows students to consider all the collected data.

  • Present

    With ArcGIS StoryMaps, users can create and present student reports, statements of findings, or portfolios. ArcGIS StoryMaps allows the interactive data, maps, and dashboards to be integrated with photos, video, text, and more for stunning presentations.
