An efficient tool designed for measuring and assigning width attributes to linear features in a longitudinal sense. It has a built-in LRS reverse geocoding functionality that also makes it a handy linear event feature split tool – even when you don't care about applying width attributes. Usefulness – Starting with aerial imagery or LiDaR, digitize (with only 2 points) and operate on selected event feature to assign LRS routes and measures to contextually-placed "stay put" sketched geometries which are not intended to be re-rendered – but inherit the LRS measures created by its shadow onto the assigned OnRoad. Click the OnRoad(s) Measures button to perform the OnRoad assignment and reverse geocoding of the two ends, and the reshaping of the 2-point polyline to parallel the route at the offset of the average lateral distance of the originally digitized end vertices. Use 5 different "Set Width" functions to measure either end or anyplace in the middle. The tool transfers the measured width onto the sketched polyline. All options are covered by the 5 buttons. Use the Split Feature and Set Width combo tool to subdivide the original long event into shorter sub-events. All LRS reverse geocoding is handled by the tool(s). Definitions – • "assigning width attributes" means using a click-measuring mode to measure distances across aerial raster imagery. • "LRS reverse geocoding" means using the end locations of a line to acquire perpendicular measures from an assigned route. Usage – Width Attribution – Optionally, if a linear feature has low- and high-measure width attributes, the interface allows the technician to measure and populate different or same widths at each end of each sketched feature. Usage – Polyline Splitting – Users are encouraged to digitize linear elements in their natural location (i.e. keep Esri Roads and Highways from re-rendering them onto the route centerline) with two points.
