Desktop

ArcGIS for Desktop technology provides crime, intelligence and operational analysts in thousands of law enforcement agencies worldwide the spatial analytics, modeling and visualization capabilities they need to meet the mission of their agencies. These tools provide agencies a place-based understanding of crime and other events in their communities through the analysis visualization as well as providing modeling and forecasting capabilities. ArcGIS is a decision support tool that enhances an agency’s ability to intelligently deploy and use scarce resources. This level of GIS analysis is typically performed by a GIS technician.

Web

Modern law enforcement agencies need visibility into the operations of their agencies as events occur and a web-based, GIS-enabled, common operating picture (COP) provides this capability. Basemap data (streets, imagery) can be fused with operational data (crime, accidents, road closures & other events) as well as analytics (crime hotspots, habitual offenders, demographics) and other data (cameras, sensors) on the GIS platform to provide a comprehensive, dynamic view into the activities of an agency. This cost-effective and collaborative approach is designed for operations personnel and does not require GIS expertise.

Mobile

The increasingly diverse mission of law enforcement requires a mobile GIS capability. Officers need the ability to access to the common operating picture (COP) in the field, to provide updates from the field in tactical or emergency operations, and the ability to collect GIS and non-GIS data for transmission to the COP for visualization within a geographic context. A mobile GIS provides law enforcement with critical information about their proximity, crime, criminals and other information whether they’re using a mobile phone, tablet or laptop. ArcGIS for Windows Mobile is configurable for use in the field with minimal training required.

Online Maps and Data

ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS.com provide access to all types of GIS data, imagery, and applications and is a key component of the ArcGIS system for law enforcement. A variety of worldwide base maps are available including imagery, streets, topography, community base maps and more. Emergency personnel can create private or public groups to exchange map data, projects, and presentations.

GIS Server

ArcGIS for Server is the core component of the GIS system for Law Enforcement. It can be deployed within the law enforcement facility or can be hosted in the cloud and provided as a GIS service. ArcGIS for Server provides the platform for the organization and management of GIS data available to the desktop for planning and analysis for enhanced decision support and analysis of unfolding events. It manages mobile connections to consume updates and edits which are stored in the database and published to the COP. It also enables access to dynamic data, services, and other online GIS data that is made available to all other GIS clients and viewers within the system.
