UC Sessions - 3D Web

By Russell Roberts

With the UC coming in just under a week here are the upcoming sessions that will be covering the different products that can help you create rich 3D web apps using the Scene Viewer, Templates, WebApp Builder and the 4.0 JS API.  Talking about the Scene Viewer, we prepared a story map covering its exciting new features here. Have a look and give us feedback!

3D Visualization with the ArcGIS API for JavaScript

Learn how to visualize data in 3D with the ArcGIS 4.0 API for JavaScript. In this session we’ll overview various points to consider when thinking about 3D visualization, including when it is appropriate to use 3D symbols and 2D symbols. Create single variable and multivariate visualizations in just a few lines of code. Understand the variety of visualization opportunities in 3D, while acknowledging some of the pitfalls. Become familiar with some of the up and coming features related to 3D visualization.

3D Visualizations using JavaScript in 30 Minutes

This session focuses on how to make impressive 3D visualizations by drawing on familiar web development patterns and geographical knowledge. The presentation will reveal all the useful and important JavaScript classes, so you can begin introducing 3D into your apps in a logical and meaningful way.

Create and Visualize 3D Layers with ArcGIS

Learn how to create and publish 3D content with ArcGIS. We will focus on authoring scene and elevation layers with ArcGIS Pro, then publish them as hosted services in Online, and finally create web scenes that can be brought into configurable web applications.

Building 3D GIS Applications for the Browser Using JavaScript

Learn how to build 3D interactive web applications using the ArcGIS API for JavaScript. The new 4.0 version comes with a modern and easy-to-use programming interface that minimizes the amount of code needed to build compelling browser-based 3D GIS applications. This session will cover (1) the workflow of authoring and publishing 3D content in ArcGIS Pro and CityEngine, (2) the development of web apps based on 3D layers and web scenes in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS, and (3) an overview of advanced visualization capabilities including how you can create your own customized WebGL renderers in JavaScript.

Leveraging 3D Across the ArcGIS Platform

Esri now provides a full suite of 3D capabilities. This includes 3D desktop applications for creating, maintaining and analyzing 3D content, native 3D Runtime capabilities for interacting with 3D views on mobile devices, new and improved hosted 3D streaming services, new apps such as ArcGIS Earth, and online 3D scene authoring and consumption capabilities using the web scene viewer. Esri is also producing 3D-ready solutions and hosting huge volumes of dedicated 3D content – including basemaps and world elevation data – that makes the transition into 3D easier than ever before.

Sharing 3D Content on the Web

Easy distribution of interactive 3D GIS content is important in many industries. In this session, we will show you how you can share your 3D content as a web scene, both within an organization and out to the public. Content will include authoring 3D scenes in ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, or CityEngine, and then publishing to ArcGIS Online or your own web server so users can consume it in a browser, in an app, or on a mobile device.

Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS: Creating 3D Web Apps

If you want to share your 3D content on the web, this is the session for you! We will show how to quickly and easily create new web apps based on web scenes and scene services (3D data content) without having to write a single line of codemart Mapping provides an easy way to create beautiful maps that tell your story. Learn how to create the same experience in 3D scenes and what possibilities the 3D world give to you.

15-minute Lightning Talk: Smart Mapping in 3D – Design Decisions

Smart Mapping provides an easy way to create beautiful maps that tell your story. Learn how to create the same experience in 3D scenes and what possibilities the 3D world give to you.
