Data Model for Botanical Gardens and Zoological Parks

Visit the APGG Web site

GIS managers at North American botanical gardens and zoos have joined together as the Alliance of Public Gardens GIS (APGG) to design a GIS data model for mapping facilities and plant collections. The ArcGIS Public Garden Data Model is available at www.APGG.org.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funded the data model's development, and the group is open to any garden, zoo, or campus that uses its landscape for teaching or research. Current partners include

  • University of California (UC), Davis, Arboretum
  • Institute for GIScience at San Francisco State University
  • Biodiversity Informatics Center at the UC Berkeley Museum of Vertebrate Zoology (MVZ)
  • San Diego Zoological Society
  • San Francisco Zoo
  • Missouri Botanical Garden
  • Chicago Botanical Garden
