Question: I am wanting to make a color ramp in a legend for some points that have a graduated color scheme. I have several points and want to depict a color ramp instead of depiction of each point. I want it to look like a ramp for a raster dem. Can I do this in ArcMap 10 or do I need to copy the color ramp and insert it into the legend?
Answer: You will need to do this graphically. Take a look at the bottom notes of the One Minute Cartographer presentation from 2009 – it is posted here on Mapping Center. It tells you how to construct a graphic legend for a color ramp in step-by-step instructions.
