Developer Day at User Conference 2022

A Developer’s View of the ArcGIS System

Wednesday is “Developer Day” at the 2022 Esri International User Conference! Whether you’re a GIS pro curious about creating applications with little to no code or a seasoned developer looking for a deeper dive on tools and capabilities for building apps or extending the ArcGIS system, “Developer Day” at the Esri User Conference (UC) is for you. No developer experience necessary!

Join us in the morning session starting from 8:30am – 11am for a comprehensive overview of what the ArcGIS system means to you. This overview will cover all of our developer technologies and highlight the benefits of the ArcGIS system and its architecture.

Sessions on Developer Day

In the afternoon, we will offer three sessions, back-to-back, that dig into web development a bit further. First, we will cover an overview of development strategies for building web applications from more of a holistic view, followed by sessions that will cover an introduction to the API and demonstrations of many of its new capabilities, finishing up with a “Road Ahead” session to discuss our development plans for this API of the next year or so.

1pm – 2pm — Web Development Strategies

Jeremy Bartley, Julie Powell, Andrew Turner

ArcGIS gives web developers many tools for building custom web mapping applications that use the power of GIS. In this session, we will tour these capabilities for designing and building your apps using the right tools. We will start by exploring no-code/low-code options for creating apps, then we’ll focus on technology for building custom apps that includes the fully-featured ArcGIS API for JavaScript, as well as open-source options such as Leaflet, CesiumJS, OpenLayers and MapLibre GL-JS, ArcGIS Platform location services, as well as a full set of resources for your success.

2:30pm – 3:30pm — ArcGIS API for JavaScript: An Introduction and What’s New

Attend this session to get a tour of the most important capabilities and recent advancements in the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, and get inspired with new ideas for your web apps. We’ll cover 2D and 3D editing, client-side analysis of your imagery and vector data, shortcuts for building your UI, and more.

4pm – 5pm — ArcGIS API for JavaScript: The Road Ahead

In this session, product managers and development leads will discuss the road map and development strategy for the ArcGIS API for JavaScript.

Developer Social

From 5:30pm – 7pm, join the developer community in this social being held at the Marriott South Pool. There will be plenty of networking, food, and beverages. Enjoy this relaxed setting and unwind from the day while meeting the developer team.
