DevSummit 2021 Plenary Sessions: The Highlights

This year, for each day of DevSummit, we will host a Plenary Session that focuses on key aspects that developers will find most valuable. Let’s take a brief glance at the highlights from each day.

Day 1 – Building Apps for the Platform

Getting a great start to our event, we’ll receive a welcome message from Esri’s President and Founder, Jack Dangermond. Esri’s CTO, Jim McKinney, who has been involved with the DevSummit conference when it started back in 2006, will lead attendees through a fast-paced and exciting first day. Starting with a walk through the geospatial platform as a service (PaaS) offering for developers, both web and mobile development will be covered. Continuing on with the morning, the latest advances in ArcGIS developer tools for both web and native developers will be splashed with demonstrations covering powerful cartographic tools, moving from the thematic to realistic in 3D, offline field mobility, and visualizing your spatial data with game engine technology.

Day 2 – System and Platform: Overview and Highlights

After some early morning technical sessions, Day 2’s Plenary Session kicks off with an overview of the ArcGIS system by Esri’s Director of Software Development, Sud Menon. He will guide us through web apps and analysis and display of imagery online. After, development leads will show us the latest in analytics, spatial data science, and artificial intelligent capabilities exposed to you through the ArcGIS system and its developer tools.

Day 3 – Extending the Platform

The last day of DevSummit will start by highlighting the latest products and improvements in ArcGIS over the past year. ArcGIS for developers is more than just building apps; it’s also about giving developer the tools to extend the system, whether it be with tried-and-true SDKs that have been part of ArcGIS for many years, as well as some new APIs we will be introducing. Look for the demonstrations on automating your ArcGIS system with Python, administering high-availability systems, and containerizing services with Kubernetes.

As much as the focus each day is unique, all together it tells a complete story. Join us in our journey and register for DevSummit today!
