With the advent of new capabilities in ArcGIS, Esri is retiring its ArcGIS app for smartphones and tablets. By late August 2015, the ArcGIS app will no longer be available for download from the Google, Apple, Windows, or Amazon app stores. Previously installed versions of the app will continue to function.
All other Esri apps running on smartphones and tablets will continue to be developed and supported, and continue to serve the needs of Esri customers in workflows that were previously addressed by the ArcGIS app.
Sharing Public Maps
Explorer for ArcGIS enables you to share maps with the public, providing an improved user experience over the ArcGIS app, and better support for web maps.
Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS and AppStudio for ArcGIS also enable you to easily create publicly accessible web apps and native apps, respectively.
Sharing Maps within an Organization
Explorer for ArcGIS provides an improved user experience over the ArcGIS app and additional capabilities such as Favorites, Sketching, Sharing, and more.
The following configurable app templates provide an improved solution for crowdsourcing efforts: Crowdsource Reporter, GeoForm, and Crowdsource Manager.
You can also use the "Quick Report" template included with AppStudio for ArcGIS to build native apps for crowdsourcing under your own brand.
Geographic Data Editing in the Field
Collector for ArcGIS, Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Web Application Templates all provide map-centric data collection workflows in the field.
